Cedric Morris was a highly acclaimed, commercially successful artist who became disillusioned with the bias of the London art scene towards abstract paintings. On moving to Suffolk in 1930 with his partner, Arthur Lett Haines, he continued to paint prolifically while creating wonderful gardens and running an art school. Although he enjoyed a devoted following from fellow artists and friends, his work was largely forgotten until recently. This illustrated talk offers a glimpse into the world of this under-rated artist. Admission is free with a retiring collection to defray expenses. Donations of at least two pounds per head are valued to maintain the series. Tea and coffee are served from 12.30pm.
